Billing and Your Data

This page covers your workspace's plan and billing, cancelling a subscription, exporting your data, and deleting a workspace or an account. Billing and data settings are for workspace Admins.

Plan and billing

An admin manages the workspace's plan in Settings → Billing. The page is headed Billing & Plan.

  • Current plan shows the plan, its price and the date it Renews. During a free trial it shows the days left and the date the Trial ends. A workspace started from the sign-up page begins with a 14-day free trial, with no credit card needed.
  • Payment method shows the card on file. Update card opens Stripe's billing portal, where you change it.
  • Recent invoices lists your invoices with their status, total and date. View opens an invoice.
  • Open billing portal opens Stripe's billing portal, where you manage the payment method and see past invoices.

Other people who open the page see the plans but can't change anything; it tells them to contact their workspace administrator.

If the page says Failed to load billing information, self-serve billing isn't turned on for your workspace. Email support@alignsoft.us about your plan or invoices.

Change your plan

  1. Open Settings → Billing.
  2. Under Change plan, find the plan you want and click Upgrade or Downgrade.

The change is made when you click; there is no separate confirmation. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal.

If the workspace has no payment method yet, the section is headed Choose a plan. Click Choose plan on a plan, and Align takes you to Stripe to pay. When you come back, Align confirms that the workspace is now on a paid plan.

Cancel your subscription

  1. Open Settings → Billing.
  2. Under Cancel subscription, click Cancel at period end.
  3. Confirm Cancel subscription at period end?.

The workspace stays active until the end of the current billing period, and the date is shown on the card. The button then reads Cancellation scheduled, and the current plan is marked cancels at period end.

Cancelling the subscription doesn't delete the workspace or its data. To delete them, see Delete your workspace.

Export your workspace data

An admin can download a copy of the workspace's data.

  1. Open Settings → Data & Privacy.
  2. Under Export all data, click Request data export.

Align emails you a link to a ZIP archive, usually within a minute. The link works for 24 hours. The archive holds the workspace's projects, entries, releases, members, time entries, agreements, wiki pages and API key details. File attachments aren't included yet.

Delete your workspace

Deleting a workspace permanently removes it and everything in it: all projects, entries, releases, members and files. Only an admin can do it. Export your data first if you want a copy.

  1. Open Settings → Data & Privacy.
  2. Under Delete workspace, click Delete workspace.
  3. In Delete workspace permanently, type the workspace's name, enter your password, and click Delete workspace.
  4. Align emails you a confirmation link. Open it to confirm the deletion.

After you confirm, there is a 48-hour window to change your mind. While it runs, Settings → Data & Privacy shows Workspace deletion pending with a countdown and a Cancel deletion button. After 48 hours the workspace is permanently deleted and can't be restored. If the workspace has a paid subscription, it is cancelled when the workspace is deleted.

Until you open the confirmation link, nothing is scheduled: the banner says "Check your email to confirm the deletion." Click Cancel deletion there if you change your mind before confirming.

Delete your personal account

There is no self-serve option to delete your own Align account. An admin can remove you from their workspace, or suspend or archive your account; see Delete your account. To have your account and personal data deleted, email support@alignsoft.us from the address you sign in with.
